Shingrix Vaccination

Almost all Singaporeans > 50 years of age already carry the chickenpox virus and are at risk of shingles no matter how healthy they feel.

Shingles most commonly occurs in adults > 50 years of age and 1 in 3 adults get shingles in their lifetime.

The symptoms and complications of shingles can severely impact an individual’s daily life.

Pain in an important symptom of shingles as it has been described as “the worst ever experienced” and is well know to be difficult to treat.

The most effective prevention method against shingles is vaccination.

Anyone who has had chickenpox or been exposed to the virus can develop shingles.

Usually the virus remains inactive in nerve cells and doesn’t cause problems.

However, as you age, your immune system naturally weakens which can allow the virus to reactivate shingles.

57 Medical offers shingles vaccination at all our branches.

Influenza Test

We are now able to do influenza swab test. This test can be use to detect influenza A and B.

Advantage Of Screening For Influenza

When proper treatment for influenza (i.e., antivirals) is prescribed at the beginning of the flu infection, it helps decrease the severity and duration of flu symptoms.

These medications are most effective when given within 48 hours after symptoms appear.

Walk in to any one of our branches to have your influenza swab done.
